I have been a working artist for all of my adult life and have been specializing in murals, trompe l'oeil and faux finishes for the past several years. My previous background is in decorative product design and textiles. After graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University School of Art and getting my Masters of Fine Arts Degree from New York University, I started my 20+ year career in the fashion and home textiles industry.
Five years ago I began painting fine art canvases in acrylics. I applied my experience in home fashion, and my love of nature, and found that I could create beautiful art work for the home. Working with decorators and home stagers exposed me to the world of faux and murals. I was able to apply my education and experience to creating beautiful wall finishes and decorative embellishments. The art of textiles and the art of interior walls are very closely related.
Working "outside the box" I have been able to bring a new perspective to mural design and to many of my faux finishing techniques. I have studied with several faux experts, including Marc Potocsky and Barbara Skivington and have used their guidance as a stepping off point in developing techniques of my own. My extensive background in painting has enabled me to go beyond the basic products and recipes in the current faux marketplace, while also offering those well known brands and services. Most recently I have added training in the proprietary RS Faux Effects products to my repertoire.
I live and work from my suburban home in Greensboro, North Carolina. I have a great love for North Carolina and enjoy being a part of the local decorating community.
